Artful Versatility

I’m currently in production at The Tiny Closet with a few new styles. One in particular being a new coat. I call it The Studio Coat, and it will be available to shop in a couple colors at the end of this month.

I love open outerwear. Minimal to no hardware, draped and understated. You won’t find me in anything much more than that when it comes to coats or jackets, and while this does have something to do with my personal minimal style, it’s largely due to where I live. Even while I write this in the middle of Winter, it’s nearly 90 degrees today. Cold weather is fickle in Southern California. And as much as I so want to wear an amazing thick wool sweater or glossy puffer jacket, versatile pieces are key to keep both a small and useful closet. For my life and for my environment.

And The Studio Coat does just that. Beautifully versatile, an essential piece I always turn to, while still being interesting and artful. Not just for me though, but even for someone who’s experiencing true Winter. Because I actually wear my coat mostly indoors, in my studio. Hence its name. Which is where someone, say in Boston or Chicago would likely also wear theirs. A wonderful indoor/outdoor chore coat that one can wear all year long.

But enough about that for now because I’ve been waiting to share: guys, I finally made myself something!! An exquisitely fluttery drapey top and pant set! Let me tell you, it’s been more than a while since I made myself something special that was just for me and not for the shop. In fact, it’s surprisingly hard to make myself things, even though I’m designing all the time. Who’da thought? The fabric had been sitting for nearly a year, but when I finally whipped it up, I applauded myself in the mirror, I felt so amazing in it! The silk-like cupro paired with such a simple top and midi pant set concept is a dream addition to my wardrobe.

I didn’t have any plans (or time) to make the set available in the shop but, once I slipped that number on, always the business woman - I was already scheming a way to fit this set into my new releases for the year. Because I mean, wouldn’t you want to wear this too?! This set is a sure thing. An outfit I can count on.

Anyway, I couldn’t wait to feature these special new pieces on the blog. A one of a kind set, and my Studio Coat. Items currently percolating my studio. Follow the newsletter for The Studio Coat release! And for the set… stay tuned.
